Eureka Campus Life

Time with Students

Body Language

Body Language

The school year is wrapping up and summer is almost here. We have been spending a lot more time with students recently, ending the semester on a fun note. Through this time and the shared experiences it brings we remember how joyful it is to lead them each week. Sometimes we hang out together at the local ice cream shop or embark on a town wide scavenger hunt. Whatever it looks like, these experiences allow us to get to know and love the students we serve.

It is especially rewarding to sit back and see current students and faithful leaders connect and reach out to new students that come to Campus Life. We have been blessed this year with remarkable college age leaders who engage the lives of students.

The ability to connect with students is limited for our leaders because they are hardworking college students trying to balance jobs, Campus Life and a full class load. Without the commitment of Christ-loving college students it would be extremely difficult to connect with all the students.

As Campus Life transitions from the school year to summer fun, we are looking forward to being able to connect with even more students as school winds down for college students and hopefully more time opens up for us to have more life-giving experiences with Eureka students.

Thank you for praying and encouraging us as we do more ministry this summer.

Dear Community, We Need You

We are looking to develop our Community Support Team. The Community Support Team is a group of local adults who guide and protect this ministry, as well as provide practical help with snacks & supplies, along with praying and investing financially so Campus Life becomes a sustainable ministry in Eureka.

Contact Taylor with any further questions about the CST.

New Year, Same God

Derek

Derek

One passion the Lord has set on Campus Life is a heart to invest in students. Sure we play goofy games, take trips, dress up in silly costumes, but in the midst of all theses events are leaders who consistently love each student. One of our leaders who helped last spring got involved in some discipleship making relationship with students. Derek went on a trip to Alabama with us last year and continues to go to numerous sporting events to sit with students as we cheer on their teams. Derek is a loved member of our leadership team, but the previous summer he accepted a job at Yellowstone Park. Students were deeply saddened to see Derek head out for a season.

Derek was able to come back this last semester to help out on Monday nights.  What surprises me is that although he does not live in the area anymore because he is attending school two hours away, Derek still makes the drive each Monday night to connect with students.

What a love and compassion Derek has for students and it's because of his deep love for Jesus. Recently all the leaders and I took our student leaders ice skating and then wrapped up with a close look at Matthew 5, seeing how simple yet transformative the Beatitudes are.

Just as the Beatitudes tell us what the kingdom of God is like, let us also keep our eyes on the kingdom of God. Always looking forward to eternity as we pray fervently for Eureka students.

As 2015 ended, we told all who would listen, “YFC finances are behind”. We prayed and we asked for a generous December. And Then … It Happened. People gave a bunch. We finished our 1/2-year budget of $485,000 ahead by 2%. Thank You Friends. Thank You Jesus! We hope you will continue generously, because Jan-March income is typically lower than the rest of the year. Wow. That was big. Happy New Year!!!

We Are Back

Life is Good

Life is Good

The beginning of August Eureka Campus Life ventured to North Carolina to take part in Project Serve. Leaders and students served long hours making meals, landscaping, life guarding, and cleaning. All for a greater purpose so hundreds of students could enjoy the fun and craziness of a full week designed to point them towards Jesus.

Maggie has become a powerful and influential servant leader at Campus Life each week. But at camp she was placed to serve in the kitchen for a full nine hour shift each day, every day. During this time Maggie said she was frustrated with not being able to impact students directly. But slowly as the week rolled on, she saw how God was using all the behind the scene servers to provide space for other people to minister directly with students.

Each week leaders like Maggie open up their lives and relate to students, so that they can start building a relationship with God.  It is because of Christ’s model of servant leadership that Campus Life leaders are able to lead both directly and indirectly each week.

Thanks for your love and support. This is only the beginning of what is to come.

Summer is flying by...

I love watermelon...

I love watermelon...

We have been blessed with families who open up their homes to host Campus Life every week. Summer events would be extremely difficult without their partnership. Not only are families getting involved, but three college students have joined our team to pour into Eureka teens.

Because of the growth from last semester and this summer, students and leaders have the opportunity to journey to YFC Camp in North Carolina. We have eager leaders who are giving their final weeks of summer to invest time with Eureka students.

Last month several Eureka students served at the annual YFC Peoria Golf outing to raise money for camp. This allowed students to meet people in the surrounding communities that support Campus Life and YFC Camp.

Whether Campus Life is on a golf course or at a home, it’s far more than a few students gathering. God is reaching an entire community. As our leadersshare the powerful love of Christ with students, the students share Christ’s love and impact to their brothers, sisters, parents, coaches and friends.

It’s amazing how God can use even one student to impact many others who experience the light and love that God has placed in Campus Life.

Thank you for your love and prayers. Please continue to walk with us as God faithfully transforms the lives of students and families.

If you would like to see Campus Life, please visit us any Monday night from 7:00-9:30. Please contact me at [309-258-6188] I would be thrilled if you came. - Taylor
